The Power of Networking with Intention

One of the more difficult concepts I’ve had to grasp when I started my business was about how to network with intention. Because it’s such an interesting landscape online, I want to help provide some clarity on what practices have worked specifically for me in my business model online.

The Networking with Intention Formula

What happens is, we start prospecting before we have any authority or any social proof, right? So, it becomes an uphill battle because we’re trying to make that real impact connect with real people who can help us grow our business, be our clients, or add value.

The truth is, people are going to Google you. Before they decide to connect with you, they will surely look you up to see what’s going on in your social profiles. If you want your lead generation prospecting efforts to not go to waste, the first thing you’ve got to do is this: start paying attention to your social media presence!

You can start by building a website, and getting into the most popular social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. You can even start a podcast. Those stuff will help you build your authority.

Once you’ve got that handled, the next thing you’d want to do is to start fishing. There’s an easy way to do this, as well as a hard way. As a CEO, I prefer doing it the smart way. When you start your outreach—whether it’s to help build your social media profile or to get more clients—I would start it off with a compliment that is short and unbelievably, highly personalized.

Here’s why you want to do that—if someone looked up my story on American Heart Association and sent me a really personalized email saying: “Hey, I read that story. My grandmother just had a sudden cardiac arrest. I was really inspired by that story. Thank you so much for sharing it! How’s business?”

I’m gonna want to reply to that email because none of the other emails in my inbox look like that. That’s the power of networking with intention.
